Today marks exactly 1 year, to the day, since I launched Zero to Zeros—yay! When I published my inaugural post on March 21st, 2015, I had no idea that this blog would be where it is today a year later. After all, I was entering an already quite saturated market (dividend-investing blogs are a dime a dozen these days) with minimal investing experience to boot. I wondered, will anyone be interested in reading my crap, really?
Fortunately, it turns out that, yes, people would in fact be interested in reading my stuff. You see, that’s the cool thing about the DGI blogging community: we’re not trying to sell products or aiming to become the undisputed authority on our subject matter of choice; the majority of DGI blogs are really public diaries more than anything else. Yeah, it’s always nice to make a bit of side income by sprinkling some affiliate links here and there and throwing up a few ads, but, for the most part, the goal of a DGI blog is to share one’s journey on the road to financial freedom with other like-minded individuals, and to create a community with whom you can exchange ideas and discuss investing. And this is precisely why reading DGI blogs never really gets old.
To be sure, DGI bloggers all share similar investment portfolios and follow similar blog content formats like “dividend income reports” or “stock analyses”; still, each and every one of these bloggers has a unique story to tell, with a unique background and unique goals. Ultimately, people have been reading my blog for the same reason I was (and still am) reading DGI blogs long before I had even started my own: it’s interesting and motivating to read about other individuals’ progress in endeavors that you yourself are undertaking.
Here are a few key metrics for my blog, as of the time that I am publishing this post. Since March 21st, 2015, there have been:
– 300 comments (600 if you include mine, as I always respond to each and every single comment)
– 9127 unique visitors
– 17125 site visits
– 37563 page views
These numbers are so dope, I really can’t believe how far I’ve come in only 12 short months. Like I’ve said before, I have no doubt that there are plenty of blogs out there that have grown far more quickly than mine in the same time span. To me though, this is still progress that completely blows anything I ever expected out of the water, especially considering that, again, this site was never intended to be a super SEO-optimized or monetized blog. Zero to Zeros is just my little corner of the internet where I publicly share a small part of my life, and I don’t see that ever changing.
Thanks again to everyone who reads and follows my posts—here’s to another fruitful year of blogging!
